Jey Uso: WWE’s “Main Event” Yeet Champion & Fatu Dynasty Legacy
Early Life & Family Heritage
Born Joshua Samuel Fatu on August 22, 1985, in San Francisco, California, Jey Uso is the younger twin brother of Jimmy Uso (by nine minutes) and the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi (Solofa Fatu Jr.) and Talisua Fuavai-Fatu. A cornerstone of the legendary Anoa’i wrestling dynasty, Jey’s lineage includes icons like The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Yokozuna. Alongside his brothers Jimmy and Solo Sikoa (a current WWE star), Jey grew up immersed in wrestling, trained by his father from childhood and inspired by the family’s storied legacy.
Football Dreams to Wrestling Destiny
Before stepping into the ring, Jey pursued football at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida, and later as a linebacker at the University of West Alabama (2003–2005). Though his NFL aspirations stalled, Jey channeled his athleticism into wrestling, training at the Wild Samoan Training Center and WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In 2007, he debuted alongside Jimmy as “The Fatu Twins,” capturing the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship in 2010 before ascending to WWE’s main roster.
The Usos: Tag Team Revolution & Bloodline Era
Renamed The Usos (Samoan for “brothers”), Jey and Jimmy redefined tag team wrestling with their high-flying style and cultural pride, performing the Siva Tau war dance during entrances. Managed by cousin Tamina Snuka and Jimmy’s wife Naomi, they became 10-time WWE Tag Team Champions, including a historic 622-day SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign—the longest in WWE history. Their rivalry with The New Day and dominance in The Bloodline faction (2021–2023) solidified them as one of WWE’s greatest teams.
However, The Bloodline’s collapse in 2023 marked a turning point. Jey shocked the world by pinning Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank 2023—Reigns’ first loss since 2019—and later allied with Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, his 10th tag title.
Singles Stardom: From “Main Event Jey” to World Heavyweight Champion
Jey’s solo rise began with the 2020 Feud of the Year against Roman Reigns, earning him the moniker “Main Event Jey Uso”. After breaking free from The Bloodline, he claimed his first singles title, the Intercontinental Championship, in September 2024.
In 2025, Jey’s career reached new heights:
Royal Rumble Victory: Entering at 20, he last eliminated John Cena to win the Men’s Royal Rumble.
WrestleMania 41 Triumph: Defeated Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, cementing the “Yeet Era” with a thrilling sleeper hold victory.
Personal Life, Legacy & Future
Married to high school sweetheart Takecia Travis since 2015, Jey is a devoted father of two and actively supports Make-A-Wish and WWE’s Be a STAR anti-bullying campaign. Despite his fame, he maintains a private life rooted in Samoan traditions.
At 39, Jey acknowledges his career’s twilight, stating, “I’m on the end of my career… I still got a couple years left”. Yet his 2025 achievements—a world title and record-setting accolades—prove the Anoa’i spirit burns brighter than ever.
